I'm gonna give you my heart
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
'Cause you light up the path
Consequence of Sound wrote that the song "starts off as a heartfelt piano ballad before flourishes of pounding electronics take over the chorus" and noted that it "falls in line with the synth-heavy soundscapes of 'Midnight', but with more danceable flavor.
Martin explained that for him, EDM meant “Emotional Dance Music”, and the song embodies hope and perserverance after personal struggles, making it an anthem of release.
The song is about finding light in darkness and celebrating inner beauty, comparing a beloved person to a “sky full of stars”.
The song is about the release after you’ve climbed a mountain, or done anything challenging. I love playing this song. It’s just so much fun.

Lyrics
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do, ooh-ooh, ooh
'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars
I think I saw you
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
I wanna die in your arms, oh, oh-oh
'Cause you get lighter the more it gets dark
I'm gonna give you my heart, oh
You guys know that I am a widow. Mark died on a Tuesday night. I was alone with him, talking to him, holding his hand. I wrote down the last words he said to me. The song “I just died in your arms” by Cutting Crew came to my mind. “Sky full of stars” had not been written yet. I love the lyric “I wanna die in your arms, ‘cause you get lighter the more it gets dark”. Due to pain I could not hold Mark, but being alone with him, those sacred moments, I honored our love and connection. It was one of the hardest moments of my life and yet it was truly beautiful. I’d like to believe that somewhere out there, under a the sky full of stars, my late husband Mark can still feel and share our connection.
In a note to me:
God confirmed to me, before we were married, that you would be able to follow me anywhere. I knew my path would be a hard one, so this was a great consolation. No matter where life has taken us, we have gone into battle united and strong. Your courage is so impressive, as is your tolerance for extreme ambiguity that we’ve had to endure.

Think about this…
What is the hardest thing you’ve had to overcome in life?
Have you celebrated the fact that you survived and overcame such a huge obstacle?
Have you shared what you’ve learned from this with others?
Key Take Aways
Comparing a beloved to a sky full of stars is a beautiful sentiment.
Expressing a release of celebration after overcoming a huge challenge is wonderful!
Fun Fact Trivia:
What did Chris Martin do, during the recording of this song, that made him say he felt like he was cheating on the band?
Answer: According to Wikipedia, Swedish record producer Avicii was invited by the band to collaborate on "A Sky Full of Stars". In addition to producing the track, he was also asked by lead singer Chris Martin to play and record the piano parts. However, Martin later stated in a BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe that he felt that he had "cheated" on the band by asking Avicii to play the piano instead of playing it himself
