Lyrics

don't know you, but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me and always fool me
And I can't react

And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Songwriter Irglova said, “This song was written from a perspective of hope, and hope at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are”.

The verses of the song tip-toe carefully in lyrics, tender voices and gentle guitar finger-picking. I love the lines “words fall through me and always fool me and I can’t react”. Describing the overwhelm of the moment.

Think about the first few times you were around your sweetheart. For me, the first time I met my husband Paul in person, he greeted me with a hug. In that moment, I remember the energy between us. It was as if someone was snapping their fingers in my ear and saying, “Pay attention”.

In a relationship, hope is the belief that the future can be better than the present, and that the relationship can have a mutual purpose. It’s also a promise to care for the other person and to actively give and promote the relationship’s goals.

Glen & Marketa’s vocals come together in an aching, longing, searching, that swirls into such sweetness. They take us on this journey and while there is still uncertainty about where this journey will take us, you feel that you don’t want to leave.

I didn’t know much about this song before this post, but I knew it was a song that gripped me, especially the chorus. Does it have the same effect on you?

A positive attitude is not a switch that you can turn off and on. You have to practice it on a daily basis. If you are a praying person, or a meditating person, there are two important things to focus on everyday. In the morning you pray for strength to face the battles ahead of you. At night, with gratitude in your heart you pray to be healed so you are prepared for the next day’s battle.

Think about this…

When did you first have hope about your relationship?

What are your relationship goals?

Do you actively give toward and promote your relationship goals?

Key Take Aways
  • Hope is a belief that the future will be better than the present

  • Practice having a positive attitude everyday

  • In the morning pray for strength, in the evening pray for healing
