Lyrics
Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it's only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together
If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me, and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together
There are two sides to this sweet song; the dreams, wishes and desires for a happy relationship and the idealization of future relationship.
I love the lyrics “you say you belong to me, and ease my mind” because being vulnerable in a new connection is stressful. We put ourselves out there and hope the energy is reciprocated. We know we need to proceed cautiously but we are intoxicated with the possibilities.
Idealization in relationships is a mental process where a person attributes exaggerated positive qualities to their partner and minimizes their flaws. It can be a defense mechanism that helps people cope with anxiety and avoid emotional conflicts. However, it can also lead to unrealistic expectations and disappointment
Lyrics
I can't see me lovin' nobody but you
For all my life
When you're with me, baby, the skies'll be blue
For all my life
Don’t you love the sixties era? The harmonies, the snare drum, horns, cheesey “bah-bah-bahs” are a wonderful swirl of sounds.
I can imagine a couple hand-in-hand skipping along.
“When you’re with me, baby the skies will be blue for all my life” is a joyful thought!
If you’ve ever fantasized about what it would be like to live in a romantic fairy tale, you’re not alone—it’s perfectly normal to find this idea arousing or appealing. There’s also nothing wrong with trying to incorporate some degree of romanticism into your dating and intimate life, such as going all out to make an engagement, wedding, or honeymoon feel extraordinarily special.
When choosing a partner, which trait should you look for most? Humility. Humility is a fancy word for someone who can own their weaknesses. Humans are very good at ignoring their weaknesses and getting stuck in their growth, not maturing. This is our enemy in life, getting stuck. We ignore our weaknesses and pretend they are not there. We are unwilling to address them. If you are excited about growing, you would not want to be with partner who is stuck.
If you are always growing with your partner you will stay in love. We need to be growing.
Think about this…
Do you go all out to celebrate and romantacize important moments in your relationship?
Do you express gratitude for the moments your life is better because of your sweetheart?
Do you look for ways to grow in your life, taking in new energy?
Key Take Aways
Being vulnerable in a relationship can be stressful
Looking at moments of your relationship, as though it is a romantic fairy tale, is a beautiful thing
If you are always growing with your partner you will stay in love
