Lyrics
Maybe I hang around here a little more than I should
We both know I got somewhere else to go
But I got something to tell you that I never thought I would
But I believe you really ought to know
This song is about a couple who clearly have a spark but are also attached to others (perhaps married). The singer explains that despite their chemistry, she's not going to do anything about it. Why? Because she honestly loves him.
Lyrics
You don’t have to answer, I see it in your eyes
Maybe it’s better left unsaid
This is pure and simple and you must realize
That it’s coming from my heart, and not my head
If we both were born in another place in time
This moment might be ending with a kiss
There you are with yours and here I am with mine
So, I guess, we'll just be leaving it at this
I love you
I honestly love you
For anyone who has been drawn to someone even though they are already in a committed romantic relationship, perhaps just the moment of acknowledgement is enough closure. There are several songs written about this moment, it can be an unsettling yet exciting experience.
The lyrics “maybe it’s better left unsaid” is very interesting as the singer is literally saying it, and is about to spill her honest emotions.
The song feels like we are tip-toeing through a land mine. Instead of glorifying the admission of a spark between two people, I’d rather focus on overcoming the temptation to entertain the thoughts. LOVE is so much more than attraction, but we are human. So human.
Temptation exists of course, but the quality of life is found in the depths of commitment, overcoming our weaknesses, strengthening our character, and celebrating with our chosen romantic partner.
Let’s get excited about that!
commitment; the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.
In relationships, notions such as continued love, happiness, and fidelity express our commitment. It is mindless to think that we might achieve such outcomes if we don’t focus on the process required to reach these lofty goals. How often do we hear people commit to the process of a relationship? For example, what might happen if we committed to working on and sustaining our levels of emotional intimacy and learning the necessary tools to support that process? Or if we prioritized our intimate relationship by actually valuing the relationship over any less important things that seem to get in the way?
Choose your love,
Love your choice
My heart is overflowing with the sweetness of what we shared in the spirit. I felt as though I had known you before the Earth. I rejoice in your faithfulness and marvel at your spiritual gifts of sweetness and grace. Forgive my akwardness as I feared sharing too much. Your warmth and sincerity put those fears to rest. Thank you for melting my heart. May we pray for guidance. Love, Mark

Fun Fact Trivia:
What did Olivia Newton-John say about the recording of this song?
Answer:
Newton-John recorded this in three takes, with the first take being the winner. She recalled the session: "I sang it from my heart. I'm not a power singer but more of an interpretive one. Part of that song sounds like it's almost a whisper, which seemed right because it was about the most tender and sensitive emotions in life."
