Lyrics

For so long
You and me been finding each other for so long
And the feeling that I feel for you is more then strong, girl
Take it from me
If you give a little more then you're asking for your love will turn the key
Darling, I would wait forever for those lips of wine
Build my world around you, darling, this love will shine girl
Watch it and see
If you give a little more then you're asking for, your love will turn the key

I just watched the Midnight’s Special video clip. There is Andy Gibb in a blue-and-white, silk, unzipped bomber jacket. Wearing no shirt underneath, a gold necklace, long feathered hair and all the confidence in the world. Andy Gibb is 70s gold.

This love song features synthesizers and funky guitar riffs that turn a happy-go-lucky tune into a disco-pop fun on any mirror-balled dance floor or roller rink!

I don’t think you can be in a bad mood while listening to this song.

Andy Gibb's most significant impact was his brief but brilliant run of chart dominance during the late 1970s disco era. The teen idol was a “hit machine” between 1977 and 1978, he released three consecutive singles that reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. He was the first male solo artist to achieve this feat.

My random thoughts: As a kid, I was a huge fan of Andy Gibb. His album “Shadow Dancing” was my first (and last) 8-track. I saw Andy Gibb in person once. We were both in Disneyland and he was standing between Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in front of Cinderella’s castle. It was December 1987, and Andy Gibb died 3 months after that.

Lyrics

I just want to be your everything
Open up the heaven in your heart and let me be
The things you are to me and not some puppet on a string
Oh, if I stay here without you, darling, I will die
I want you laying in the love I have to bring
I'd do anything to be your everything

According to Wikipedia, this song was written in under 20 minutes with the hook of this chorus already fleshed out. It’s pure pop music inspiration!

The lyrics “if I stay here without you, darling, I will die” is a pretty passionate expression. This is obviously a sweet song but the phrase itself can go one of two ways;

According to ny.gov, The phrase “I would die without you” is a common expression of deep dependence or intense love, but it can also be a red flag for manipulative behavior, as it can be a tactic to make someone feel guilty or responsible for the speaker’s well-being. It’s important to distinguish between healthy, reciprocal love, which fosters independence and mutual respect, and unhealthy codependency, where one person feels their existence depends on the other.

Growth brings excitement, happiness and other positive experiences. Couples need to keep growing together.
