Lyrics

Hey, have you ever tried
Really reaching out for the other side?
I may be climbing on rainbows
But Baby, here goes

I love the optimism in the lyrics “I may be climbing on rainbows, but Baby, here goes”. It puts a smile on my face and prepares me for the chorus that just cradles my heart in hope.

In the 70s, the simple honesty (even cheesy at times) of the singer-songwriter era deserves to be praised. It’s called easy listening for a reason. These type of songs take us on a pleasing journey.

"Make It With You" is widely recognized as a timeless and sentimental love ballad. Many reviewers highlight David Gates's smooth, rich voice as a standout feature of the song.

Lyrics

Dreams, they're for those who sleep
Life is for us to keep
And if you're wondering what this song is leading to
I want to make it with you
I really think that we could make it, girl

I know the phrase “make it with you” can be taken in more ways than one, but let’s focus on the meaning of making a lasting, successful, romantic relationship.

Here’s a fun memory; on my very first date with Paul we went to an escape room. The theme was Sherlock Holmes. It was just the two of us and it was considered a difficult room with several puzzles to solve. We talked through every possibility. We listened to one another’s suggestions. We stretched our thinking. We laughed, a lot, and we solved the puzzles. The escape room host was impressed and told us we worked exceptionally well together.

Since that first date, we’ve owned the fact that we are good problem-solvers as a couple. We are always on the same side. We face issues not by asking; “Can we solve this issue?” but rather, “How can we solve this issue?”.

We all come from different backgrounds and belief systems. Trusting that together we have the tools and patience to eventually come to a good, respectful resolution will serve all of us well.

Healthy people are growing people, and people do not grow healthy in isolation. We need each other for so many reasons: for companionship, encouragement, support, feedback, and insight.

Lyrics

No, you don't know me well
And every little thing only time will tell
If you believe the things that I do
And we'll see it through

Life can be short or long
Love can be right or wrong
And if I chose the one I'd like to help me through
I'd like to make it with you

Choose your love.

Love your choice.

Comfort Theory states that people get worried when we perceive that our comforts might get taken away from us. A lot of people are afraid of love and intimacy. You’re precious heart is now in the hands of another human being that you don’t have control over. You are extremely vulnerable. Many people hide from love. Trusting in a loving relationship is one of the most powerful ways to grow.
