Lyrics
You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love to last forever
And I want you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart, in my soul, baby
If you are Gen X, you’ll remember that moment at the high school dance, the kind of dance they hold after a football game, when this song came on. Your heart would beat a little faster and you scan the room to see if he or she is there.
This is one of those songs that you want to be dancing with someone special. It’s not a flirty, fun song. It is pure declaration of “the kind of love that lasts forever”.
This song is extremely popular at weddings. Adoration and declarations of love, are always special whether a new moment such as a high school slow dance, or a grand gesture such as a wedding dance.
Yet there is a logic to the phenomenon: the logic of love. You love in order to be loved in return, particularly by someone worthy and admired whose love for you gives you significance.
Both reciprocated love and prescribed love have a key aspect in common: the appreciation they elicit from others. They make you feel significant, communicating that you matter and cannot be ignored.
Lyrics
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
"No one needs you more than I need you"
Billboard said that this song was "somewhere between a hymn and an anthem”.
Beautiful swirling harmonies compliment the driving melody, creating a masterpiece.

I held LaDena and told her, “Oh, I wish I had adored you more.” I had wasted many times not adoring her. If you know my wife and I, you know we spend a lot of time adoring one another. There is always more that we could’ve done, more love we could’ve shared. Oddly, this illness has helped us love even deeper and more whole-heartedly-as if each moment would be our last.
